My granddaughter Naiyanna was eight years old at the time she asked me this question, “Maw Maw, how did God make Himself?” I paused at this and had to cleverly think this through before answering her because when children ask grown-ups a question, they expect a logical answer. Genesis 1:1 clearly states that in the beginning, God created the heavens and the Earth. This verse lets us know that He was acting before time when he created the Universe. So I said, “well, since God created the Heaven and all the Earth and everything in it; then He had to be the first existence that ever was; He is the beginning and the end and there was none other before Him.” She was content with this answer. Further research concluded that my answer was not a bad one after all. It revealed that God existed outside of time, (“Evidence For God” by Rich Deem) but since we live in a universe of cause and effect, we naturally assume that this is the only way in which any kind of existence can function. However, this is known to be untrue. Without dimension of time there is no cause and effect and all things that could exist in such a realm would have no need of being caused; but would have always existed. Therefore, God has no need of being created, but in fact created the time dimension of our Universe specifically for a reason—so that cause and effect would exist for us. Since God created time, cause and effect would never apply to His existence. So lets take the time to let that marinate into our system and spirit. Hmmmmm! Yes, that’s what I said too.

Can you imagine being the very first existence on Earth? This is so amazing! As humans we do not give God the credit that is due to Him, as we sometimes behave as though we made ourselves, or that our parents are the only responsible parties in the making of us. True enough, when we think about it, since God is the first existence and created and made everything and everyone—does this mean that everyone is related? I believe this to be true regardless of how one may view it. When we get right down to it, does this mean that we’re all hopelessly inbred? You do the math; just think about our parents and our grandparents, our great grandparents and so on. If you take this back just a thousand years we may have well over a billion or more ancestors, perhaps more. It is stated that since many of us are so distantly related that it is not considered a blood relation.

How amazing is it though that our father existed outside of time. When did time start? I could sit here and speculate curiously about the origin of time and how it came about. I am indeed filled with admiration, amazement and awe of such supernatural powers of the “Most High,” We cannot describe the power of our Creator or the ability of our infinite God in all things. It is impossible to do so adequately, for God is so powerful and great and vast that our little minds at its best cannot take it all in. But God revealed Himself in His Book, the “Bible” to give us an unfolding idea of His power to do ANYTHING thought of by man to be impossible. He created our world and hung it out into space and its been hanging there for thousands of years. Wow! This is truly amazing. He is the All-Mighty God, the Prince Of Peace, Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. He’s the Most High!
