Protect Your Peace By Katherine Young

If you haven’t done so already, take a moment and reflect on your previous year. Consider your triumphs, your trials, and how you reacted to various situations you encountered. Did you respond to every comment where someone may have opposed your ideas or beliefs? Did you respond positively or negatively? A wise man once shared with me that everything does not need your response. With this thought at the forefront of your mind, may you enter the new year of 2020 protecting your peace.

What does “protecting your peace” look like? Here are a few examples:

Understand that the words “Yes” and “No” are both able to be used in complete sentences. Use these two powerful words accordingly on your own terms.

Taking care of your health in all facets (mentally, physically, and spiritually) is not vain. Either way, you will pay for your health or for a sickness: you decide.

Choosing to walk away from toxic relationships (family, friend, or even associate) demonstrates that you have finally tapped into your inner strength. Keep walking. Get healed and be free.

Creating goals that are just for you and your purpose in life do not have to be explained to others. It is not up to you if others understand your purpose; what matters is that you fulfill your purpose.

Old hurts still nagging at you? There is nothing wrong with seeking wise counsel in the form of therapy to recognize the hurt, release it, and then move forward.

Protecting your peace is disguised in a variety of ways—don’t be afraid to tap into what works for you. May your 2020 be a year full of peace, purpose, and prosperity.
