The Well Farm at Voris Field
On behalf of Fresh Coast, The City of Peoria, AKRF, The gitm Foundation, and USDA NRCS, we are excited to invite you to celebrate the public Ribbon Cutting for The Well Farm at Voris Field!
The Well Farm at Voris Field is a pilot project in Peoria, Illinois that demonstrates how urban agriculture can reduce runoff, creating a host of social and environmental benefits.
The Well Farm at Voris Field is designed to:
– Reduce stormwater runoff that is carrying pollution from roadways, parking lots, sidewalks and buildings into the sewer system and causing overflows into the Illinois River.
– Expand production of locally grown flowers, food and timber.
– Provide internships and apprenticeships to youth and adults who want to learn agribusiness, hydrology, and other career path skills.
