Major Taylor Juneteenth Bike Tour

Annual bike tour through Peoria, IL that supports women and cycling and the accomplishments of Major Taylor

Black Girls Do Bike-Peoria and Bike Peoria will host their annual Major Taylor Juneteenth Bike Ride in conjunction with the NAACP’s Health and Wellness fair on Saturday, June 22nd.

Major Taylor was the first African American cyclist. Known as the fastest cyclist, Taylor raced on several cycling circuits in Peoria during his racing career.

All rides will start at MLK Park located at 825 McBean St. Riders can choose their route of 15, 25, 45+ miles. The 25 and 45+ riders are asked to start by 8:30 a.m. There will be maps and sag support. There is no cost to ride. Food will be provided at rest stops.

If 15, 25, or 40 miles is more than you want to ride – join them at 1:00 pm for a Slow Roll Historic ride through the South Side of Peoria.

The Mission of BGDB-Peoria is growing and supporting a community of women of color who share a passion for cycling. We champion efforts to introduce the joy of cycling to all women, but especially, black women and girls. We support bike advocacy, awareness, and education.
