King of the Pack By Cleo Dailey III (Modernday Lazurus)

“For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry ….…” – Habakkuk 2:3

My best friend is a model who does both Avant Gard and commercial photo shoots. In a recent picture, he posed as a lion in the brush, hunting. In addition to the picture being masterfully done, I got a deep revelation of what was being spoken for the year 2018. It is hunting season! There are some specific things that need to be noted on how to hunt for this year, and these can be found in studying the lion.

It should be noted first that contrary to popular opinion, lions are not very fast animals. However, the animals they hunt are some of the fastest on the planet, achieving top speeds of 80 kph and beyond. Why is that important? Because oftentimes the goals and dreams we set for the year seem so beyond our reach. We often give up by seeing the power in our prey and not the prowess that we possess. Races, according to the Bible, are never given to the swift, but to the one that endures until the end. A lion is well-known for its ability to pounce. The lion knows how to stalk and wait in the brush until the exact moment to leap! With a final burst of speed, the lion ignores the speed of its enemy and recalls the power within.

Lions choose the correct time and season to hunt. They are not desperate for a quick snack that they miss the real meal. In times past, we operated out of season, when the land was in a drought. Because we chose the wrong timing, we settled for the scraps availed to us in that season. The lion is an animal that is a picky eater. It will never settle; rather, it will wait for what it wants. It is not bothered by being seen. It will merely look away and nonchalantly ignore the alert of its prey. Let your enemy be worried. You rest!

Finally, a lion is a picky eater. It is extremely strategic in its operation because it knows that what satiates its appetite only happens in certain seasons. In 2018, it will be imperative that you make the vision plain and operate in the proper timing. Don’t dumb down your vision for someone else’s opinion-that creates a nightmare. Know that all things given by God happen in their own time and if you were silently planted in the last season, your petals are about to bud.

If I may add just one more thing…when a lion is loud and in plain sight, his mission is often aborted. As long as they can see the lion, and hear it roar, all the other animals will not roam about. So for a lion, when it comes to surprising your prey, sometimes the most important thing is remaining out of sight. If God had you silent or obscure in 2017, just know that He was preparing the table for you in 2018. Eat to the full!
