Hope Renewed Youth Conference 2015 1

L to R: Pastor Alphonso Lyons, Pastor Deveraux Hubbard and Elder Reginald Russell

The Hope Renewed Youth Conference 5th annual Soup for the Soul Fundraiser, turned out to be as exciting as it was billed to be. This Epic event took place on Friday, February 27, 2015 from 5:30-7:30 pm at George Washington Carver Center.

The thirteen contestants had a smorgasbord of soups from Gumbo to Cheeseburger soup. Taking 3rd place was Elder Reginald Russell, with his delicious Gumbo Soup, 2nd place went to Pastor Alphonso Lyons, who prepared a Vietnam chicken noodle soup, which he claimed was addictive, 1st place and crowned “Soup King 2015” was Pastor Devereaux Hubbard with a chicken tortellini soup. This was Pastor Hubbard’s 3rd year entering this same soup. His perseverance paid off. It’s clear prayers may have had something to do with the clergy holding off all of our chefs as well.

About two hundred people attended the event and a great time was had by all. HRYC thank all of our cooks, judges, volunteers and especially the community, who came out on a cold Friday night to support our efforts to fund this year’s conference, scheduled for June 12-14, 2015.
