Gracious Gifting and Re-Gifting – The New Etiquette By Ms. Reenie

Irene Felicia WeathersbyA gift is a wonderful way to express your affection or appreciation for someone. Never give a gift you do not like yourself, but always try to fit the gift to the person’s personality rather than your own. Gift giving should reflect the person’s persona, not what you think they need. Gifts must be chosen with much tact! If someone shows little interest in “cooking”, don’t buy them a cookbook. Presents should be wrapped neatly and have a card attached. Any color paper and ribbons are acceptable.

Many unwanted Christmas presents will be discarded in the coming weeks, but what is the best way to get rid of gifts? There a few things you can do with unwanted items. You can re-gift them with new wrapping, exchange them for something more suitable to your style, donate to a charity, or as some have confessed, sell them on e-bay.

However, be gracious in accepting and keeping an unwanted gift; think how thoughtful that person was to think about you during this season of giving.

Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Socially yours,

Ms. Irene Felicia
