Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner?

Emeicka Johnson - Fashion Forward2Guess who’s coming to dinner for the holidays…As holidays are quickly approaching finding something to wear can be fun and tricky at the same time. Comfort should be the main objective for festivities. If you are meeting your significant other’s family for the first time it’s important to be stylish but yet comfortable. A Sweater dress is a great choice paired with flat riding boots. You can never go wrong with leggings and a tunic top paired with flat boots. It is not necessary to wear stilettos. The key is to be comfortable not “diva-ish” with your feet hurting. I would advise one to wear something with an expandable waist in case you over indulge in your favorite dishes. The average person consumes at least 4500 calories during holiday meals. A button down with slacks or a casual sweat suit would be a great choice for men. I mean you would want to be comfortable upon eating your meal and engaging in a football game right?

Sequins and Glitter

Sequins and glitter clothing tend to make their debut from October until after the New Year. Sequin clothing is most popular during the holidays as they bring a festive look. Who can resist a sequin or glitter top or skirt paired with a blazer and heels? Sequins are best paired with rhinestones or pearl accessories to give you a look of “bling”. Try checking your local Express, Limited, Macy’s, or New York & Company stores for sequin and glitter pieces. Tip: Bright red lipstick would be the cherry on top to complete your look.

New Year’s Eve

New Year’s Eve is also known as one of the best reasons to dress up. One great thing about it is you do not always have to buy something new. If you already own a LBD (Little Black Dress) you can accessorize with gold and silver. You can bring your LBD back to life! It’s ok to match your bottoms with your heels. Yes it is acceptable to wear silver or gold, glitter, or sequin heels with matching bottoms after all its New Year’s Eve! For those of you deciding to stay in with your significant other, ditch the pj’s and slip into something chic such as leggings and flats. This would also be a great time for ladies to mimic the “tuxedo” look. All you would need is a solid color jumpsuit, paired with a tuxedo style blazer. By the way…remember those open toed heels you found on clearance a few months ago? Now it’s time to wear them!
