The Tireless Project Holds Next Collection on Saturday, July 25th

7_25Tireless Project Tire Pick UpThe Tireless Project will hold their monthly collection of unwanted tires on Saturday, July 25.

The collection site is 2301 S. Darst St., Peoria, and is FREE to Peoria city residents.

Hours of collection are from 9:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m. (or earlier if the trailer is at capacity—approximately 1,000 tires).

If tires are left after the designated hours, a $200 fine for littering will be enforced.

The Tireless Project, initiated and coordinated by volunteers, has continued to be successful since its first collection on March 28. That first venture was an overwhelming success, resulting in 1,010 tires dropped off in just two hours.

Please note the following restrictions to the drop-off:

Only City of Peoria residents can participate; no businesses will be allowed.

Customers must have proof of residency in the form of a driver’s license, state ID OR property tax statement.

No tires with rims will be accepted.

Only passenger and truck tires 17″ or less will be accepted; no oversized tires, including agricultural and commercial, will be accepted.

The limit is 20 tires per customer; this is a legal requirement for transporting tires.

For more information, contact Julie Eliathamby Ryan at, 309-363-3200, or Kathy Burdette at 309-472-6560.

If a group of volunteers is participating in collecting and dropping off abandoned tires, please register at least two days before Saturday with either Julie or Kathy to provide information which will facilitate the drop-off process.
