DEAR MARGARIE, By Margaret Washington

What are you thinking about Mom this precious season?

(Keywords Mom & Precious)

According to the dictionary the word precious is defined as worth much, valuable, gold, silver, much loved, dear, and refined and even more.

When I looked up the word mother in the dictionary it just didn’t have enough to say about them. So, I decided to give you my own take on the subject.

It doesn’t matter how old you get there is nothing or no-one to compare to your mother’s arms. Remember when you were young and playing outdoors with the other children? You would fall, scrape your knees and run to your mom with tears streaming down your face, nose running, acting as if you were going to die. Mom was right there with her arms stretched out. She’d wrap those arms around you and assure you that everything would be alright. She’d wipe away the tears, take care of the hurt and send you on your way with the reminder to be more careful next time.

Well, when you think about it, aren’t mother’s pretty much the same now that you are older? There will certainly be times when we will be hurt and feel pain. She is there to let us know that we should never give up on life. She is still wrapping her arms around you, caressing you with that powerful motherly love, wiping away the hardships with her words and advising us to get back in the race.

Mom, when thoughts of you are in our hearts, we are never far from home. – Anonymous
