Come to the Garden Alone – LIVING BY FAITH By Christian Ambassador Charity E. Sephus

charity SephusAs a young girl, I planted a garden in my backyard and was so proud of it because it grew so quickly and thickly. In a very short while my system of shallow planting and light watering resulted in beautiful flowers. I would sit on the back porch and dream as I looked at each kind of flower and rejoiced at the colors that blended like a rainbow.

A garden is a very personal life-giving space. I always enjoy it most when I am there alone because when He speaks, the sound of his voice is sweet and my heart seems to stop beating. Peace is ever-present there as I work with my hands and imagination. Here is a place where I can have a single grateful thought toward heaven just like praying. While waiting for my flowers to bloom it’s like the earth is crammed with heaven and every kind of plant is a bush afire with God.

Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not be weary in well-doing: for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.” So dear hearts, let us work until it hurts because real joy comes from doing something worthwhile.

Sow seeds of kindness and wait for the harvest which comes so soon. You will come rejoicing, bringing in the check. If you work a little, you get a little pay; and if you sow bountifully you will also reap bountifully. God is able to make all grace be plentiful toward you; supplying you with more than enough of all things.

How subtle the thoughts of lack, uncertainty, fear, shame, or loneliness are these days; they are simply the devil’s lies and do not belong to the children of God. They are as dandelion seed, which would invade the garden if allowed to remain. Jesus has given the affirmation that we use to erase lies from our minds. We plant in spite of legislation, popular demand, life, death, angels, principalities, height, depth, or those who don’t understand. It is important to know that God’s word is never spoken ineffectively. Just because it comes free, is no reason to put it off as redundant.

The Lord will not allow the soul of the righteous to famish. Profit as you walk through the garden in peace led by his hand. He determines our ending, so the end of our story is not written yet. Happy gardening, peaceful watering and a bountiful harvest to you! This is one of the joys of living and real contentment, with happy living in accord when we learn how, where, and how much to plant. So, let us connect with God who is the master gardener.
