City of Peoria Community Development Launches 2016 Great American Cleanup ”Clean Your Block Party” on April 30, 2016

Volunteers Take Action to Clean, Restore, and Renew Peoria Neighborhoods

The Great American Cleanup is scheduled to occur in the City of Peoria on April 30th. This year’s theme, “Clean Your Block Party”, provides an opportunity to spread the word on beautifying communities, educate and encourage volunteers to build a sense of community pride and stewardship, and offer experiences that help change community behaviors block by block. In support of this effort, the City of Peoria Community Development Department, along with Keep Peoria Beautiful, will continue to aid in the facilitation of volunteer events and education programs that help to remove litter and debris, reduce waste and improve recycling throughout the community.

The Community Development Department supplies dumpsters and volunteers to enhance neighborhood cleanup efforts during the Great American Cleanup. While it is important to maintain clean and healthy neighborhoods year round, this nationwide cleanup effort is a wonderful opportunity for the City to partner with neighborhood associations to make a lasting impact.
