Ask – Seek – Knock By Mark Lampkin

Many of us have heard versions of a sermon by Ministers of the Gospel that uses the scripture from the bible, Matthew 7:7-8 that states;

7 “Ask, and it will be given you. Seek, and you will find. Knock, and it will be opened for you.

8 For everyone who asks receives. He who seeks finds. To him who knocks it will be opened.

We are now in the first month of a new year and a new decade. Those of us who were born before 1989, can recall the dread that was expressed in December 1999, wondering if the computers of the world would be able to adjust to the changing metrics going from the 20th into the 21st Century. Y2K. Yet, here we are now 20 years past that.

During those 20 years, I endured the bust in 2001, the Great Recession in 2008, and an emotionally and financially draining divorce in 2014. Through it all, it has been my belief in the above scripture that has kept me focused on manifesting what it is that I WANT…and not what I fear.

As you are building your business/organization, what is your mindset? What words are you using to either empower or weaken your beliefs? Who are the people that you spend time with? Are they providing fertilizer or weed-killer on your field-of-dreams? Are they casting shade or sunlight in your direction?

I am ever grateful to still be here and believe there is yet more for me to learn and contribute to my community. I can recall telling those who doubted my sanity 20 years ago when I decided to pursue my dream of building a video/media services company…and my sharing that I BELIEVED it would come to pass; “I would rather be the guy who at 65 years of age still chasing MY dream, than to be a disgruntled and regretful man because I never tried.”

Yes. I asked…and worked. I sought….and worked. I knocked….and worked.

New doors of opportunity are opening for me today BECAUSE I remained faithful through the valleys over the past 20 years. Write out your goals. Review them weekly. Revise them where necessary. But, NEVER allow the haters to give you a jersey to join their team. They will NEVER believe in your vision. And that is OK…use it all as inspiration and motivation. Their journey is not yours.

I hope to hear of your successes. And, when you are feeling less than supported;

GO TO THE SCRIPTURE. And keep it moving… FORWARD.
