ICC Alum Ronda Y. Guyton for ICC Board of Trustees

ronda-guyton-headshotFormer Illinois Central College student, Ronda Guyton, is happy to announce that she hopes to serve the community on the Illinois Central College Board of Trustees in the upcoming April 2017 election.

“I want to work with the current board to continue to shape the mission, vision and purpose of ICC and align with the community’s needs,” states Guyton, who is a public servant as a Deputy at the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.

Ronda brings a unique perspective to the Board of Trustees. A Peoria native and graduate of District 150 Schools, she represents the diverse student body that ICC serves through its partnership with Peoria Public Schools, and is familiar with the unique challenges and rewards of a successful educational transition. ICC was critical to Ronda’s academic success through the consistent support and their partnership with University of Illinois at Springfield, where Ronda received her Bachelor’s degree.

She will use her expertise as a Campus Advisory Alumni Board (CAAB) member for the University of Illinois Springfield to grow and expand the ICC alumni board. When students graduate from ICC they will have alumni that will foster their career growth through networking and relationship building.

Ronda has diligently worked towards the betterment of Peoria’s community her entire adult life. Serving on numerous boards, orchestrating programming such as Jane Elliott in Peoria and the Living to Serve Foundation’s Annual Mammogram-A-Thon. In 2008 Ronda received the UIS Loyalty award for alumni service, 2012 she was honored as one of the 25 Women in Leader-ship, received the 2013 Sigma Image award, 2016 Race for the Cure chairwoman and the 2016 Central Illinois Hero (CI Hero). Ronda has volunteered her time and talents to many events and organizations in Peoria.

A meet the candidate night is scheduled for January 14, 2017 from 5-7 at Brewers Distributing, 2421 W. Townline Rd, Peoria, Il. This event is sponsored by Rep. Jehan Gordon-Booth and Brewers Distributing.
