The Too Sophisticated Too Ratchet Art Affair was a major success this year. With a new venue giving off new energy, we could bring back former concepts from last year and incorporate new, exciting art activations that set a whole new vibe.
Citizens with different tastes, views, colors & backgrounds came under one roof to celebrate art and culture.
TSTRAA featured a live 4-piece band playing the sounds of Outkast, Tupac, and many more; a jewelry-making class for VIP ticket holders taught by the Peoria Art Guild; 360 booths by 309360 Views and a selfie station by It’s A Vibe Selfie Studio; a fashion show featuring 26 Peoria area runway models; and $5k in $100 gift cards to the first 50 ladies that walked in to spend with the artists.
That’s right! For purchasing a $15 ticket, dozens of attendees received $100 gift cards! Why? Because this pours back into support for the arts, that in turn poured back into the artists themselves! The biggest collector of the $100 gift cards won $5k to go toward their future artwork.
Also, Janet Davis was presented with an award for her work in fashion throughout the years. Janet is the owner of Janet’s Just For You clothing store. As Peoria continues to grow in fashion, the YANI Collective was honored to award Janet an appreciation award to show how valued she is for the foundation she has laid.
Some artists also celebrated selling their first pieces of work on Saturday. We have a rich art community here in Peoria, IL, and the community helped highlight that River City is among the best in the region!
Sponsors’ business names were put on the 360 booth frame and displayed in rotation on the big screen TVs inside the venue!
All in all, dare we say, 2S2R was a success!!
