“That’s What She Said” – 2022 By Mae Catherine Godhigh

When we look at what is happening in the world today, it is clear that women’s voices aren’t just being heard… Women’s voices are changing the world.” – Unknown

The weekend of April 9, 2022, was bustling with entertainment in the River City.

Shinedown’s the Revolution’s Live Tour packed out the Peoria Civic Center and the “That’s What She Said” Show was the toast of the town.

What began as a one-night, one-time event in Champaign-Urbana, IL in October 2013 grew into “That’s What She Said” live shows in Champaign-Urbana, Bloomington-Normal and St. Louis with new cities launching soon.

One of my besties and I decided to get dolled up and head towards Arts, Inc. Beyond a shadow of a doubt, we knew we had the hottest tickets in town.

On this historical evening, eight local women took to the stage to share their Her-stories. They were greeted with a standing ovation, applause, diversity and solidarity.

National Director Jenette Jurczyk and Nikki Romain, Executive Director of Art, Inc. teamed up to present an electrifying and sold-out show. The following women Mayor Rita Ali, Katie Kim, Kristie Hubbard, Anitra Shaw, Kate McCord Jenkins, Donna Crowder, Monica Henrickson and Nikki Romain shared insight, wisdom and humor. As their powerful testimonials were being shared empowerment, inspiration and triumph filled the room. One could not deny the spiritual element that was present.

What added tremendous value to the show, was the presence of the men who came out to support the women.

On behalf of the women in Central IL, The Traveler Weekly Newspaper wishes to thank Jeanette Jurczyk and Nikki Romain for running with the vision and taking the time to lift our sisters in a way that only women could.

For those of you who missed this show, you certainly don’t want to miss the next one!
