Summer Time: ILBCC Pro-Black Business Agenda By Lord Mic

The Summer is officially on, and the Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce is already heating it up from the street to the suites regarding the pro-Black business agenda!

To start, we’re celebrating the highly anticipated return of “ The Wake Up Show”! The new season premieres this month, Saturday mornings on Chicago’s WVON 1690am. This is a live and interactive radio program that’s simulcasted via live stream on our Illinois State Black Chamber of Commerce official YouTube channel, social media and other digital outlets. You don’t want to miss any of the critical conversations concerning Black businesses and communities that are shared.

One of those conversations is built around our “Spotlight on Sheltered Markets” Series. We showcase a couple of specific industries in each edition to begin bridging Black-owned business to the procurement and contracting paradigm. Recognizing the dismal participation of Blacks across the strata of industries, we’ve established a strategy, developed by our inner team of subject matter experts, to begin systematically implementing solutions.

We’ve visited Information Technology, Healthcare and just last month we focused on Marketing and Communications. It was a particularly spirited virtual conference!

Speaking of Marketing and Communications, we recently launched our “Doing Business in the Entertainment Business” platform to help solidify a true base of participation for Black owned businesses and professionals. The entertainment industry can be deceptively broad, with a myriad of layered opportunities for an extremely wide range of vendors. Countless goods and services are procured in the course of creative projects, and we’re focused on identifying those needs to connect our constituents to!

Last but certainly not least, we’re excited about welcoming the Illinois State Black Chamber’s State Conference back to the live format this September. While our 2020 Virtual Conference was a great success, we know that reincorporating the popular live elements will be a point of joy for all.

We’re planning a roaring comeback as we celebrate the resolute relationships that have carried us through tough times as well as great successes. Please save the date and begin making your plans now to join us in high fashion for our 2021 State Conference.

As the clouds that have darkened the past 16 months clear out for sunny skies and better days, the horizons are bright indeed for Illinois’ Black business community, so stay tuned and stay engaged! Please know that the Chamber is here to help YOU position for success! Helping you set out on the right foot as you begin your journey of personal and professional growth is very important to us!
