I Hope You Will Stand – A Poem by Katherine Young

Here in this moment, life has been tough

It seems like there have been more hills to climb than flat terrain to trod

Sexism, Illness, Racism, Healing, Entrepreneurship, Family, Trauma, Individualism, Therapy

What more can I take Lord? What more can I handle?

“You are given what you can bear.”

If that is the case, then I will stand.

Stand up for what is right.

Stand up for my truth even if it makes you feel uncomfortable.

Stand up in my beauty, my brawn, my bosom of righteousness, my smile of sincerity.

Stand up in my faith, holding fast that better days are before me and wisdom envelops me.

Will you stand with me? Will you embrace a new joy and peace that you forgot once existed?

Will you laugh a deep belly laugh in your gut where you cry and as you wipe your tears

You say “This is what I needed. I shall not be moved. I will stand.”?

As each day goes by, you and I have a choice to cower in what is trying to consume us or

We can choose to STAND.

Stand I say: Stand.
