The Importance Of Faith Hope And Love By Rev. Charity E. Sephus

AS FOR God, HIS WAY IS PERFECT. He knows the plans that he has for us to prosper and protect us from harm, then gives us hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11 asked a question, “Why are you cast down oh my soul and why so disturbed within me?” I tell my soul to be lifted with hope because I will praise my Savior, in my heart.” So instead of the “cast down” feeling, we have hope in the Lord, renewed strength, soar on wings like eagles, run without growing weary, and I will walk strongly. We ride upon the scripture, which says, “The Lord will keep us from all harm as he watches over our lives, so we won’t run swiftly to mischief. He will watch over our coming and going both now and forevermore.

There are three important values in our lives, and they are faith, hope, and love. Faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance of what we do not see. Our God of hope fills us with joy and peace as we trust Him. But the greatest of these is love. Here on earth, we can overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. We do all we can with all the strength within our hearts to make a difference in this life. When we have tried everything within us, we cry Lord, “what now?” as we continue in love. We remain victorious by keeping ourselves in the Love of God. To stop loving is to accept defeat, which invites a “cast down” feeling to enter our hearts.

When Jesus said, “Come to me, all who are wearied and burdened, and I will give you rest,” it is not only the rest that we attain, we glory in tribulations: knowing that tribulation works patience; And patience, experience, then experience, hope.

While God is our hiding place and shield, we hope in His word. His word is the steadfast anchor to which we hold fast, professing our faith without wavering, knowing God made promises to us and His word is immutable.

Be of good courage, the Psalmist said. God will strengthen the hearts of all who hope in Him. We hope for eternal life, waiting patiently for it. Although we cannot see the future, the heavens declare God’s glory and the firmament shows His handiwork daily pouring sign language, and night reveals knowledge. Inaudibly the messages reach from the stars. Silently we see that an unmistakable reality, in quiet evidence, has gone throughout the earth without words to the end of the world by the power of the heavens.

Hope deferred makes my heart sick: but when the desire comes, it is a tree of life. Now, as softly as the voice of an angel, breathing things we have only heard in the spirit; faith, love, and hope are like a whisper of comforting words with gentle persuasion.
