Change is coming to our community, and it is happening right now at the Church of The Living God, 2815 W. Lake Avenue in Peoria. Our new Youth Program entitled “Change” will be held every 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month with the exception of Holidays and severe weather conditions. Session #3 will begin on the 3rd Thursday of January.
During the Christmas holiday season, our leaders helped the children make and bake cookies of all kinds and shapes to represent Christmas. We had such a fun time with them, and they enjoyed working with us as well. Our Change leaders worked patiently with the children while showing them how to knead cookie dough. The children were able to choose their desired shapes for their cookies and decorate them once they had cooled. The sweet aroma of freshly baked cookies filled the atmosphere. The whole room was filled with bursts of laughter and happy comments. This is just one of the many fun activities that our youth will be participating in at our Change Program.
If you have children or know someone with children 13-18 years old or is 12 years old and soon to be thirteen, we would like them to be a part of this program. Some may say that if our children had more community involvement, perhaps they would be less prone to getting into trouble. Others may say that it takes a village to raise a child, so when the villages come together for the greater good of the children, we need to support them. Let’s keep in mind that helping our children is not a “competitive” situation; it’s all about helping our children to enjoy their lives while learning new things and making a difference.
