Prince of Peace Women’s Day Event: “Beautifully Rooted” By Katherine Young

Sister Marilyn Holly & Sister Mary Chaney

The women of Prince of Peace M.B. Church celebrated Women’s Day with guest speaker Mary Lou Chaney. The theme for the event was “Beautifully Rooted,” and Sister Chaney’s primary scripture came from Colossians 2:6-8: “Therefore, as you have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him, rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, overflowing with gratitude.”

It takes a lot to be grounded. Through prayer and faith, Sister Chaney encouraged the women to keep pressing and to be persistent in every endeavor of life. She used the analogy of a garden, and how some plants were heavily rooted in the ground, while others came up easily because their roots were not deep. Such is the way of life: you will be able to withstand more when you have strong roots firmly planted in your faith versus being fair weathered and all of your roots laying in shallow ground. How do you get grounded in your faith? Pray, study, trust, and believe the Word of God. Stay focused on the Lord and he will order your steps.

Even when trials and tribulations arise, Sister Chaney reminded us to stay steadfast by increasing our prayer life and to think with a hopeful heart. Trust and believe that no matter what comes your way, there is relief on the way if you stand firm in what you believe in and do not give up. Above all, stay beautifully grounded.
