Holidays can be rough and especially if you are on a budget. But, in order to not have any regrets, you are going to have to know your budget and set price limits…and stick to it!

Putting in place spending boundaries ahead of time can prevent you from overspending. There is nothing to be ashamed of being frugal, in many cases the person you are shopping for is on a budget too. It’s always best to use cash because with credit, you will be tempted to overspend telling yourself you can pay it back later.

Avoid getting caught up in the “hype” it’s easy to overspend when you are caught up in the moment. It’s a great feeling being among other shoppers with bright lights and holiday music. It’s easy to get caught up in the spending, as many stores are having sales that you can’t resist.

Holidays come at the same time every year, if you are always strapped for cash during this time, look into getting a 2nd job. Retail jobs start hiring for holiday help as early as August, and many will keep you employed until February. It’s a great way to earn extra money and utilize your employee discount. Just remember to plan, budget, and stick to it!
