The Ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Nu Pi Omega Chapter Peoria, Illinois held their annual Little Miss Pink and Green Ball on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at the GAR Hall on 416 Hamilton Blvd.This event culminated a series of summer long mentoring workshops for young girls 5th thru 8th grade. This mentoring program has been a signature premier project for the local Peoria chapter since 2003. Workshops are held bi-weekly during the summer months to teach young girls life skills to enhance their personal growth.
The Little Miss Pink and Green Ball featured a lively program themed “Pink Paparazzi: Welcome to Hollywood” featuring dance numbers and performances by the young ladies and the lure of Hollywood themed decorations. Also two of the young ladies, Little Miss Anadia Maclin and Little Miss Sidney Groves-Watson shared their personal growth stories from the workshops provided by the local chapter. In addition, an inspirational message was delivered to the girls and audience by featured guest Miss Black Illinois Maya Pitts. Her message focused on working hard and believing in “yourself” to achieve your dreams. The Mistress of Ceremony for the afternoon was local news anchor Semone Doughton from WEEK News 25. She also addressed the young girls to prepare, educate themselves, and work hard to become successful.
A large crowd enjoyed a great dinner, followed by the crowning of the winners of the event. This fundraiser allowed the girls to earn scholarship money for their future educational goals and scholarship. The committee was chaired this year by Mrs. Sonya Bolden. Music for the event was provided by DJ Eric Bolden and paparazzi photography by Douglas Shaw. This year’s Little Miss girls included: Jenelle Alexander, Laniya Brooks, Sidney Groves-Watson, Anadia Maclin, Jailee Pittman, Audryonna Reddick, Dalylah Robards, and Taria Woods.

The 2018 Little Miss Pink and Green winner, Miss Anadia Mone’t Maclin, is a 5th grade student at Peoria Heights grade school and is the daughter of Stanley Maclin, Jr. and ShamRA Robinson-Maclin. She was escorted by Master Nemiah Jordan, the son of Vance and Shari Jordan. Her hobbies include drawing, cheerleading, and running. Her goal is to become an animator, model, or physician. She was sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Maclin, Jr.
The 2018 Little Miss Pink, Miss Audryonna Reddick, is an 8th grade student and is the daughter of Ms. Kimberly Reddick. She was escorted by Master Eric Bolden, Jr. the son of Eric and Sonya Bolden. Her hobbies include reading and drawing. She plans to attend college so that she can become a crime scene investigator. She was sponsored by sorority member Patrese Jackson.
The 2018 Little Miss Green, Miss Taria Woods, is a 7th grade student at Sterling Middle School. She is the daughter of Tyree Woods and Patricia Williams. She was escorted by Master Jason Bolden, the son of Eric and Sonya Bolden. Her hobbies are drawing and animating cartoons. She desires to be an animator and hopes to continue to make good grades for college prep. She was sponsored by Ms. Patricia Williams.
The committee is grateful for the community support for making this event successful for these young girls. 2018 Little Miss Pink and Green plans to donate all proceeds to the St. Jude Charity.
