If you ever look for motivation online, you will quickly be filled with quotes and videos compelling you to seize the day, or to grind harder than you did the day before. While some of these motivational mantras can really fuel your mind to go after your dreams, it’s always important to step away from all of the noise, pray and seek direction for the path you are truly destined to live.
Ecclesiastes 9:11 New Living Translation (NLT) says “I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.”
Are you allowing yourself to be in the right place at the right time? It’s easy nowadays with the advancements of technology to overly indulge in others’ lives, being charmed by the images that make the ideas of success look so easy. If you are not careful, instead of focusing on your own path in life, you will quickly find yourself imitating someone else’s life without even understanding the cost they may have paid to live the way they appear to be living. Don’t be fooled: anyone can curate seemingly perfect images of their life: dazzling smiles, always-happy families, booming businesses…yes, technological filters can make any person’s life look perfect. But do not be deceived: we all know that there are trials and triumphs in every person’s life, and when taking any risk in life, you are certain to have bumps in the road.
Take the time to evaluate where you are and where you desire to go. Review your goals; do they still align up with your purpose? If necessary, tweak them accordingly. Most importantly, focus on what you have to offer and do not think that your path has to look like someone else’s path. Your life is unique and that is how God intended it to be. You have been placed here on Earth for a reason, and it is totally up to you to use the gifts that you have to make your life better and others around you. Most importantly, be sure to focus on being in the right place at the right time. It may not be where you necessarily expected, but if you are properly positioned, then you will run your race as intended.
