Looking into her eyes, you will not be able to see all of the sacrifices, all of the sleepless nights

Working multiple jobs to provide, to survive: catering to those who don’t always appreciate her

A love like none other—her strength prevails above the rest

Fitted with armor, her sword and shield to protect what’s hers…to protect the future

She built a foundation that was not always pretty…the ugliness wanted to swallow her up, but

God’s divine power and destiny safeguarded her for better, for a joy she has never experienced

Do not give up, do not give in, hold your head up high and step it off

Are all of her days smooth sailing? Baby, no.

But she can smile a smile that declares nothing but the grace of God has brought her this far

And she will keep on living and learning, she will keep on keepin’ on

I honor your preservation of family, of holding fast to our legacy of resilience and power

I honor you for feeding the hungry, giving shelter to the homeless, clothing the poor

Knowing that in return, they could do nothing for you

May your strength reign in the lives you have touched

May the love that you share never be forgotten
