SFS post card The Hope Renewed Youth Conference will be hosting its 8th annual Soup for the Soul Fundraiser. Area ministers, chefs and everyday folk will be cooking up their favorite soups and chili’s. This year we have two women who are going to mix it up with the guys. We are anticipating a women Soup King for the first time. Independent judges will choose the best soup based on four categories; taste, presentation, originality and consistency. The winner will be crowned “Soup King” of 2018. Soup King 2017 was Chef Bernard Giles, who has held the title for two consecutive years and who will be back to defend his title.
This event is fun for all and will take place on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 6:00-8:00 pm at George Washington Carver Center, located at 710 W Third St., 61605. Soup can be purchased for a donation of $7 for a 12 oz bowl. Along with the soups, we will have beverages and homemade desserts coordinated by Gloria Williams and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
