Tamara Butler Receives Membership into International Education Honor Society

Congratulations to Tamara Butler who recently received membership into Kappa Delta Pi International Education Honor Society. Raised in Peoria, Ms. Butler is the daughter of Rev. Linda Butler and the late Henry Butler. She is currently enrolled at Northern Illinois University in the Department of Education. She is obtaining a second master degree in the Educational Administration (MSEd) Principal Preparation Program. Ms. Butler was honored to receive notification of being accepted into Kappa Delta Pi. During the first semester of the program, her father passed away, and she was involved in an automobile accident that resulted in three months of physical therapy. Through these obstacles she managed to earn a 4.0 and continues to maintain this grade point average, therefore earning her the right to be offered membership.

Ms. Butler attended Millikin University where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services in 2001. She continued her education at the University of Illinois, acquiring her Master’s Degree in Social Work with her concentration in School Social Work in 2005. Ms. Butler had been employed by Illinois Central College as an Adjunct Professor for five years and with Peoria Public Schools as a School Worker for 11 years prior to relocating to Rockford, Illinois to work as a School Social Worker in 2016.

Ms. Butler is a member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and a member of various professional organizations. She is immediate Past President of the Illinois Association of School Social Workers, represents Illinois for the Midwest Council of School Social Worker’s and is the Midwest Region Representative (11 states) for the School Social Worker Association of America.
