Pastor Appreciation Day will be on Sunday, July 23, 2017 for Rev. Thurston L. Hunt Sr., Pastor of Galilee M. B. Church located at 1506 S. Folkers Street. Rev. Dr. Frank Dunaway from Henry, IL will speak at the 11 a.m. morning service. Rev. Toby Carlos from Galesburg, IL will speak in the afternoon at 4 p.m.
Pastor Hunt, born and raised in Chicago, re-dedicated his life to Christ in 1987 while visiting Akron Little Baptist Church in Ohio. He says, “The Lord touched my spirit and convicted me that I was not leading the type of life that honored Him.” He married his beautiful wife, Rosemary Williams that same year. In 1988, he returned to his hometown, Chicago where he continued his studies in Christ and taught Sunday school. He moved to Peoria in 1989 and joined Grace Baptist Church. In 1992 he answered the call to ministry.
Pastor Hunt and Rosemary have six children and five grandchildren. He is a chaplain at Methodist Medical Center, Director of Galilee M.B. Church Choir, and Chaplain of O.W.B.D.A. Brotherhood.
