As part of this year’s Soulfest, Gospel Night will be on Friday, August 4th at 6 p.m. at Riverfront Festival Park and will recognize local Peoria talent.
The cost is $5 at the door.
Adrian Johnson, Pastor of Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church will be the Mistress of Ceremonies.
The Musical Lineup will include Rev. Greg Washington, Rev. Spencer Gibson, Rev. Marlon Young, Rev. Tim Criss, Josiah Williams and the Central Illinois Mass Choir.
Headlining this year will be Rev. Deveraux Hubbard, Pastor of St. Paul Baptist Church; singing from his new CD entitled “A Worshipper’s Lament.”
“From now on, we will recognize the talent we have here in Peoria and honor the great ministers we have in our community,” says Janet Cornish-Davis, Coordinator of Gospel Night. “We want everyone to come out, support their pastor and enjoy some great gospel music. There will be a variety of merchants, vendor booths, food, giveaways and more.”
Among those being honored this year will be Bishop Joe Johnson, Vice Chief Bishop Leroy Smith, Jr., Superintendent Robert J. Criss Sr., Rev. Arthur Williams, Rev. John Gibson, Bishop Charles Washington, Rev. Cleveland Thomas Sr., Bishop Samuel Russell, Rev. James Ware, Rev. Mark A. McConnell, and Rev. Alphonso Lyons Jr. Being honored posthumously: Rev. Jeffrey Ivory, (Grace Baptist); Rev. Val Johnson (Pentecostal Church of Jesus Christ); Rev. Willie Williams, (Friendship Missionary Baptist); Rev. T. C. Sturdivant, (St. Luke); and Rev. Calvin Hightower (New Morning Star Baptist Church).
