“A Scentful Experience” is the slogan and actual experience you’ll receive from Peoria’s newest bath and body boutique, Amirah’s Aromas. On Saturday, November 5th, co-owners Tralandice Hogan and SteVon Hamilton opened their doors as the new kids on the block. These young entrepreneurs decided to go from a home-based operation to a brick-and-mortar shop offering handmade soy candles, aroma bars, bath bombs, sugar scrubs, car air fresheners, lip balms and more.
Amirah’s Aromas started two years ago, when Tralandice’s daughter asked her how to start a business after watching the weekly show Shark Tank. Tralandice immediately thought to not only explain how the process worked, but took it a step farther. She got together with her longtime friend, SteVon, and they began brainstorming ideas for products they could sell. Inspire Me Candles was the company’s first name because the organization provided customized labeling, which is still available and popular. However, the decision to change the name to Amirah’s Aromas was a success and allowed them the autonomy of ownership and to expand their brand.
The company is involved in the community and encourages people to shop local. Amirah’s Aromas would like to invite shoppers by their establishment and enjoy a cup of hot cocoa or a bowl of soup. They also accept charitable food donations for those in need.
‘Amirah’s Aromas’ is located at 3311 N Sterling Ave., Unit 11, Peoria, IL 61604 (next door to the Driver Services Facility) and open Tuesday-Friday 10-6 and Saturday 10-7.
