“Building the National Museum of African American History and Culture” – October 13, 2016 – A lecture by John W. Franklin, Senior Manager, Office of External Affairs

john-w-franklinThe new National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) on the Mall in Washington, DC, is a place where all Americans can learn about the richness and diversity of the African-American experience. On October 13, John W. Franklin, Senior Manager of the museum’s Office of External Affairs, will visit Peoria to describe how the museum came into being, from the early ideas and efforts to its grand opening in 2016. 

Everyone is invited to come hear this talk and meet Mr. Franklin. The morning presentation will start with a social time at 9:30 a.m., with the lecture beginning at 10:00 a.m. Admission to the morning session is $12 for adults and $5 for students. The evening lecture begins at 6:30 p.m. and will be followed by refreshments. Admission to the evening session is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Both presentations take place at the Peoria Riverfront Museum, 222 SW Washington St. in downtown Peoria.
