2016 Martin Luther King Freedom March and Commemorative Service January 18, 2016

This 2016 King Holiday observance will mark the 30th year of the national holiday and the 87th birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

The King Holiday Committee of Peoria Inc. announces the following Peoria Area King

Holiday Activities:

MONDAY, JANUARY 18, 2016

DR. MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. FREEDOM MARCH:

Assemble: 1:30 pm

Depart: 2:00 pm. Marchers will travel from the Romeo B. Garrett Cultural Center at Bradley University, 824 Duryea Place, to Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 413 W. John Gwynn, Jr. Avenue, Peoria. A MLK Commemorative Service & Awards Ceremony will follow.

2:30 PM following Freedom March. Event held at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church, 413 W. John Gwynn, Jr. Avenue, Peoria.

The keynote speaker will be Dr. Jamel Bell, the Interim President of Eureka College, the first woman and African American to hold this position in the college’s history.

MLK Leadership Awards will be presented following keynote address.
