The 13th Annual “Honoring Unsung Fathers” Awards and Scholarship Brunch, hosted by the Mablean Ephriam Foundation was held on June 21st, 2015 in Orange County California. Judge Mablean Ephriam has a weekly court program “Justice with Judge Mablean”.

The Foundation honors African-American men who love, nurture, and provide for and support their families, often unnoticed. The lunch thanks them for being wonderful fathers and role models. Monetary scholarships are also given to top High School graduates who excelled in grades and college ambitions.

The Master of Ceremonies was comedian George Wallace with credits including, “Little Nicky”, “Scrubs”, “House of Payne”, “Think Like A Man Too”, “A Rage in Harlem”, Seinfeld”, and the “Heckler.” Presenters of the awards included the celebrities, Judge Kevin Ross, Actress Tamala Jones (Castle, The Wood), Actor Wendall James (Raising Whitley), Actress Renee Lawless (Have and Have Nots), Actress Denise Boutte (Why Did I Get Married), Sheri Headley (Coming to America, Have and Have Nots), and Actor Flex Alexander (Man in the Mirror, Flex and Shanice).

Musical entertainment for the program included the renowned Lady Tramaine Hawkins. Lady Tramaine was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of

Fame in 1999. Her credits include, “I Never Lost My Praise”, “Going Up Yonder”, “Changed”, and the first million-selling Gospel single to top the pop charts as well, “Oh Happy Day.” Musician Mike Phillips gave the audience a taste of his talents with the saxophone. He has toured with Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Prince.

The fathers honored were, Brian Ford, Stephen Hill, Melvin Starling, Reggie Williams, Orville Barberm, James Shirley, Randy Johnson, Ronnie Winn, and William Smith. Honors also went to the Living Legacy Award to Thomas James and Volunteer of the Year, Artese Paxton.

The 2015 Scholarship Recipients were, Logan Aubert, Alazae Cary, Nathaniel Davis, Genesis Cooper, Diandra Dillon, Ron Benet Hope, Jarrold Lewis, Mousael Rosa Louis, Brea Smith, Ashley Williams, Mary Williams, Elizabeth Dominguez, Jada McCordell, William Washington, Alisha Bryant, and Tiffany Foster.
